EVERYONE IS AN AUDIENCE
Curators Claire Meaney and Mary Grehan invite expressions of interest from artists for an exhibition which explores approaches of audience engagement.
This exhibition will juxtapose artist and audience in the production and/or the presentation of the artwork. The artist may want to consider the involvement of the audience in a number of ways, such as the sharing of ideas, information, artefacts, games, whilst also considering the art experience as a social experience.
The exhibition will take place in the artist-led SOMA Contemporary Box in Waterford from the 31st July to the 21st August 2010 and will be launched as part of the Spraoi Festival .
Interested artists should send:
· A brief description and concept of proposed artwork ( max 100 words)
· CV
· Six photos/jpegs of previous artworks/ projects.
· SAE, if relevant.

Finally the new space will be open Thursday 21st of January with a group exhibition “POP (won’t eat itself)”. The new space contains two main gallery spaces, a video media room and a grey area that will bridge the formal to the informal gallery spaces. Its is really exciting to finally see it all coming together and it will hopefully flourish into a hub for the artistic community in Waterford city over the coming months. It has definitely been a hard road since moving from the old premises, but one in the right direction.
I’d like to thank everyone that has helped out along the way, with special thanks going out to Conor Nolan, Rachael Corcoran, Brendan Butler, Conrado Velasco and Luke Marsh for the great wall building!
Paul Hallahan
